HU, the Most Beautiful Prayer

By Daisny, Mauritius

When I became a member of Eckankar, I learned about singing HU, the ancient name for God.

Sung as a love song to God, HU is a beautiful prayer that draws Soul closer to God. It uplifted me, and I decided to share it with my father, who was a devoted member of the Catholic Church.

My father enjoyed the HU and began to sing it every morning. Over time, his awareness of the invisible spiritual worlds expanded. Occasionally, he shared his experiences with me. I could see that the ECK, or Holy Spirit, was an important part of Dad’s life.

Three years later, my father had a stroke which left him paralyzed and unable to speak. I was very sad and went to visit him every day. Read More

Eckankar is a “Go-to Religion”

ECK-logo-low-rez-from-FBBy Pier, Florida

My car died in the driveway. My car is everything to me, of course my only means of getting around. I am low on money as well.

It was towed to the local mechanic shop. They quoted me $1,700! And that wouldn’t take care of all the problems. While I was getting this bad news, a computer guy was working on my computer. He overheard me and said, “I used to work in a body shop and that is an outrageous price. You should get a second opinion.”

I thought, What a good idea. I decided to call around and most of the shops were closed on Saturday. Then the Mahanta gave me an idea, “Call the guy who sold you the car six years ago.” Read More

My Father’s Farewell

By Lillian, Mexico

My father had been brought up as an orthodox Jew, and although he was a very spiritual man, he was wary of the spiritual path I’d chosen for myself. Eckankar seemed foreign and unfamiliar to him.

But as I began to practice the Spiritual Exercises of ECK, my father immediately realized something was different about me. He also noticed that when I returned from an Eckankar seminar I was filled with more light and love.

“Whatever you’re doing,” he said, “it must be good.” Read More

A Midnight Miracle

By Helfried, Austria

My wife and I decided to go on a vacation to Portugal with my eldest daughter and her husband. As we reviewed the details of our trip, my wife realized our return flight to Munich was scheduled to land in the middle of the night. We lived two and a half hours from the airport, and my wife was concerned about the long drive home.

Instead of traveling such a long way in the dark, she suggested we stay in a hotel that night.

I thought her concerns were unfounded. I like to drive and didn’t mind traveling another few hours home. So we decided not to take the hotel room.

Several days later, I had a terrible dream.

I am standing near metal bars or railings. Next to me are the damaged remains of a car. Its left door hangs open. Nearby, a human body is lying on the road, cut in two. Read More

A Balancing of Accounts

By Emmanuel, Nigeria

All my life, I constantly felt cheated and wondered why. The recurring experiences of people taking advantage of me were too many to count. I had almost resigned myself to the situation.

One day, after another loss, I vowed to find a solution to these problems by turning the situation over to the Mahanta, the Inner Master.

“Why is this happening?” I asked inwardly.

As a member of Eckankar, I’d learned that life is a series of births, deaths, and rebirths. I wondered if a karmic root from the past might offer an explanation. I decided to set aside some time and do a spiritual exercise to look at my past lives.

Before bed one night, I sang HU, the holy name for God. Singing HU allows me to hear more clearly the ECK, the Voice of God. I invited the Mahanta, also known as the Dream Master, to show me if a past life was the cause of my problems today. Read More

Moving Forward

By Eloho, Minnesota

Sri Harold Klemp, the Mahanta, the Living ECK Master writes, in the book Youth Ask a Modern Prophet about Life, Love, and God, “Soul can go in one of three ways in any stage of Its spiritual unfoldment. It can move forward, backward, or stand still.”

Have you ever had a hot cup of tea and, with each sip, felt its warmth expand within your chest? That is exactly the same warmth I felt as I read this quote. It resonated within me. I believe the reason is that I recently found myself at a crossroads regarding my own spiritual unfoldment.

When I was younger, I was disciplined with my spiritual exercises, succeeded at school, and had my future planned out. Then things shifted. Read More

Salute for Love

By Peter, Japan

Some years ago, I was teaching in a vocational massage school. In my class there was a trio of students, all males, with whom I felt a greater-than-usual friendliness. We always held to our teacher-student roles, but somehow there was a sense of camaraderie behind our interactions.

As a teacher, I couldn’t show favoritism. But when I checked on their work in class or during a treatment in the student clinic, I noticed an ease and warmth among us.

Then something else began to happen. All three of them started giving me little salutes when we passed in the halls or on the stairs, always with a slightly ironic but friendly smile. I would nod back or give a little salute of my own. Read More

It’s a Miracle!

By Tony, Singapore

One rainy afternoon I drove along an expressway listening to the beautiful song of HU playing on my car stereo. An ancient and sacred name of God, the sound of HU can open the heart to the Holy Spirit’s love and protection.

Soon I noticed the driving conditions had become increasingly dangerous. I had already passed one car accident, and now rainwater was pooling on the road.

I hit my brakes to slow down.

Suddenly, the car skidded out of control and went into a spin. Swinging around and around, I careened into traffic, heading toward a railed embankment. All I could do was hold the steering wheel tightly as I prepared myself for the coming collision. Read More

Love Serving Love at the Special Olympics

By Katie, California

What an awesome day it was in Davis, California this past weekend. Fun in the sun was had by all: players and volunteers alike. At the end of the day, I truly felt like a co-worker with the Mahanta.

It all started four weeks ago when I was asked to officiate tennis matches at the Special Olympics. To say that I was honored was an understatement. I had never done anything like this before. Yes, I am a tennis player but I have never served as an officiator. Would I be able to do it? Were the rules different? Could I withstand a full day in the heat and sun? Could I give them my best at all times?

I felt a little overwhelmed and unsure of myself. So I asked my husband, Jim, to help me on the courts. I was allowed two ball “boys” or “girls.” These are the people who scurry and clear the courts of balls so that the players don’t fall or get hurt. He said yes to this task. Read More

Why Do We Dream?

ECKANKAR, Dreams, Prophecy, GuidanceBy Harold Klemp

Why do we dream?  Why is it important to dream?  Because dreaming comes from the creative imagination, which is God’s gift to you and me.  It is the nature of immortal Soul to dream.  This is why your dreams, both in everyday life and while asleep, are so important.

Through your ability to dream, you often have experiences in the other worlds where you act as an observer.  But as you move farther along, you become the participant in your dreams.  You become the actor.

You begin to see goals, spiritual goals which may be as valid as finding a home for your family.  You want a place where they can be happy, a haven away from the fast pace of today’s society.  You create a warm place where friends are welcome. Read More
