We Keep Growing—Even in Retirement

woman-playing-pianoBy Harold Klemp

An ECKist from England wrote me. He was telling me about how years ago when he was a young man, he was planning for his retirement. In those days, he said he still believed in retirement. You’re young, and what do you do? You work your whole life so that someday you can retire. And do what? Wait? Just stop living? As the young man grew up, he found a fallacy in the idea of retirement. Even though you retire from your job, you cannot retire from living. Read More

Did I Help My Daughter Enough?

By Stephen, Ontario, Canada

I was driving home from seeing my sixteen-year-old daughter. She lives with her mother now, about an hour and a half south of me by highway. She was troubled and worried about some things and not able, she thought, to talk to her mother about them.

My heart went out to her as I tried to come up with some solutions for her. Try as I might, I just felt I wasn’t helping her much. I wanted to make her problems go away, as all parents do, but knew realistically these were all part of her learning lessons and balancing out her karma with others—especially her mother! I was frustrated and disappointed in myself for not being able to help her more than just listening  and being accepting and loving. Read More

Spiritual Exercise: Listening for the Sacred Sounds

love-song-to-god_rita-maupinBy Harold Klemp

When you go to bed, listen in a gentle, calm way to the night sounds. Sometimes you’ll hear the night birds, the hum of air conditioning, the traffic outside, a helicopter flying overhead, or the soft rumble of voices. Just lie in bed and listen. You hear these different sounds so often that you unconsciously erase them from your mind. Put some attention on them now. Read More

Granny’s Spiritual Eye Is Opening

inner_worlds_36_color_hiBy Harold Klemp

An eighty-five-year-old woman didn’t understand the way of ECK and often argued with her ECKist daughter, trying to get her to return to what the older woman held was the true way back to God. One day while she was talking in this way, she fell and cracked a vertebra and was no longer able to walk. So, the daughter took her mother into her home to care for her.

Over the following six months, the mother began to have spiritual experiences. She began to see ECK Masters coming into her room, showing her that relatives and loved ones, who had departed before her, were waiting for her to join them. Many things were explained to her. Read More

My Rwandese Family

By Abala, Oregon

When I was twelve years old, my family and I had to leave our home in Congo. It was not safe for us to stay there because there was violence and conflict. We escaped across the border into Zambia and were placed in a United Nations refugee camp. I completed sixth grade through high school in the camp.

I had high grades in high school and was trying to get a scholarship because I very much wanted to go to college. It is difficult and expensive to go to college in Africa. There is no financial aid, so to go to college you either need to have money or get a scholarship. It is especially difficult for refugees because they don’t have any money.

I had an interview with UNHCR, the United Nations High Commission for Refugees, in Lusaka, the capital city of Zambia. The purpose of this interview was to see if I qualified for a UNHCR scholarship to go to college. Many refugees applied for the few UNHCR scholarships available. Read More

Spiritual Exercise: Show Me Love

show-me-loveBy Harold Klemp

If you don’t know anything about ECK, the main tool you have to work with at this point may be prayer—your communication with God. If you are sincerely interested in truth, in knowing who you are and why you belong here, ask God in your prayers: “Show me truth.”

If your heart is pure, the Lord will bring truth into your life. But don’t expect it to come in a way that fits your expectations; it may come in a different way. It may come through the gift of a book or by way of a person telling you one small step that you need to take before you can go to the next step. Read More

The Secret of Love

By Harold Klemp

Someone wrote to me about having a very hard time finding love. The secret of love is: To get love, you must give love. You’ve really got to open yourself and give freely of yourself. You can’t fake it. It’s got to be so. And when you do this, you become a magnet for love. Then the right person will come along because you’re no longer repelling. You’re attracting, because of your open heart.

Even when you’re in a relationship, it takes a long time to get engaged in it, if you will. It takes time because there are past hurts—all kinds of things that are in the past that need to be overcome. Read More

A Narrow Doorway to Heaven

narrow-doorway-inner_worlds_10_color_loA 2014 Religious Landscape Study from Pew Research Center reported that 72 percent of adults surveyed believe in heaven. Yet often people who are raised with a belief in the afterlife continue to wonder about loved ones who have died. How can they prove to themselves that heaven exists?

Sri Harold Klemp and his wife, Joan, had an office visit with their eye doctor shortly after the doctor lost his father. Perhaps their answers to the doctor’s questions can help you understand more about heaven. Read More

Spiritual Exercise: For Cleanliness of Spirit

inner_worlds_25_color_hiBy Harold Klemp

“He must practice the disciplines of ECK. The first is to have cleanliness of mind, that no words which would pollute the air enter into his mind. He shall look upon all men as creatures of God and this only; for they, like himself, are temples who shall eventually become Co-workers with God.”

Shariyat-Ki-Sugmad, Bk. 1, p. 100

Close your eyes, and chant the letters H-U for several minutes. In your Spiritual Eye, imagine a beautiful inner temple, constructed of the Light and Sound of God. See how the Light and Sound cleans, polishes, and purifies each detail of the inner temple of Soul. You may want to stay with this exercise for thirty minutes.

In your outer life, give extra care to cleaning one thing with all your love and attention. Be aware of the Light and Sound working through you.
