Spir_Exer_Shariyat_1By Harold Klemp

“If the Mahanta bestows gifts upon the solicitor, then he is the most fortunate of the fortunates for it means that he basks in the favor of the Living ECK Master and seeks nothing further in life. He has met and found the true Vi-Guru, and must now start his spiritual journey to God. Read More

Spiritual Exercise: A Way to Build Self-Confidence

ECKANKAR, Self-Confidence, Attitude, AuraBy Harold Klemp

If you should have your real strength of character marred by lack of self-confidence, use this technique to build yourself up again.

First find the spots in your aura or personal atmosphere that are self-conscious, shy, timid, or overly sensitive.  These tend to attract people who impose upon your weakness.  With a mental command, ask those people to move out of your way.  Mentally demand respectful attention. Read More

The Mahanta’s Help Is Here for All

By Rosemary, United Kingdom

My younger sister was ill. She kept fainting, and no one knew how to help her. Eventually, she went to her doctor and received a devastating diagnosis: She had an inoperable brain tumor and had only a few months to live. She was only thirty-six years old.

When I heard the news, I wanted to see her. Although she was of another faith, I thought it might help her to have some material on the ECK teachings, so I packed some books and tapes on Eckankar.

When I arrived, I gave her what I’d brought and also gave her a picture of the Mahanta, the Living ECK Master. I let her know the Mahanta was the Inner Master and could help her during this difficult time. Then I shared the HU with her. Read More

Spiritual Exercise: Game of Chess

By Harold Klemp

You can do this exercise anytime—whether you are at work, in contemplation, or about to fall asleep.

Lightly place your attention upon a situation in your life, then put your viewpoint as Soul above the situation.  Look down on everything going on below as if it were a chess game—even though it might be in your imagination.  You can look at a situation anywhere in the world from this viewpoint.

As you are gazing upon it, change the situation by simply rearranging your place on the chessboard.  It’s a successful device, and those who use it often make great changes around themselves.

For Creative Inspiration

Shariyat SpirEX Bk1_CoverBy Harold Klemp

“If man is to survive in the physical universe, then he must find time for creative activity in spiritual things. Until this comes about, within a group with time to do something besides subsist in the materialistic worlds, there is little opportunity for the spiritual sensitivity of man to develop.”

—Shariyat-Ki-Sugmad, Bk 1, pp. 183–84

Is there a goal or a project you would like to take the next step with? Picture this clearly in your Spiritual Eye.

With eyes open or shut, chant the word ghata for several minutes. It’s an ECK word for the act of opening the consciousness. After a minute or so of silence, return to chanting the word and going into silence, until you have repeated this pattern three times.

Inspiration may come during this exercise or during the day as the word draws new vibrations into your awareness.

What Is a Spiritual Exercise?

ECKANKAR, Prayer, Soul Travel, God, SoulSimilar to prayer, these spiritual exercises help you open your heart to Divine Spirit, the Light and Sound of God.  ECKANKAR teaches over one hundred different exercises, all designed to give you a greater understanding of yourself and of God.  They can be practiced privately and at your own pace.  Success at Soul Travel is not dependent on any special diets, customs, or ascetic practices.  It is truly a natural ability.

Many people experience Soul Travel as an expansion of awareness and knowingness: an inner nudge to call a friend or seeing beyond their difficulties to a deeper meaning.  Others may have dramatic experiences full of spiritual majesty.  In ECKANKAR you can learn to prove spiritual truths to yourself through your own experiences.

Spiritual Exercise: The Purifying Sound

ECKANKAR, HU, Holy Spirity, Sound, Spiritual EyeBy Harold Klemp

Close your eyes and look to the Spiritual Eye.  Sing HU, an old and secret name for God.  It is one of the most powerful words for spiritual upliftment that I can give you.

As you sing HU, listen for the Sound.  The Sound may be heard in any number of different ways.  It can be like the sound of a train going by, a bird, buzzing bees, sometimes a flute, or even guitars.  The way you hear It just depends on where you are.

These sounds are the action of the Holy Spirit, the ECK, as Its atoms vibrate in the invisible worlds.  The Sound you hear is the vibration at the particular level to which you are attuned at the time.

Imagine the Sound purifying you, removing the impurities of Soul.  It will bring you an understanding of how your actions have caused your problems.  It will also give you an indication of what you can do to unfold and how to figure out the way to do things right.

Spiritual Exercise: The Open Heart

Art by: Cean YoungsBy Harold Klemp

In this spiritual exercise, you practice keeping an open heart throughout everyday life.  It’s very tough; I have to work at it all the time too.

No one technique will work for everyone, but there are ways to keep your attention on having an open heart.  Start with something you can love, even a pet or a plant, and just love it a lot.  As the love comes, let it pour through you.

The habit of love is catching; it builds, gains momentum, and becomes easier.  But like a plant that needs watering and loving care every day, the habit of love takes constant attention.

Love won’t come through unless the heart is open.  To work with an open heart is to love or care for something or someone more than you do for yourself.  This is the first step to the divine love that we are looking for.

An Invitation to Sing HU

ECKANKAR, HU, SoundYou are invited to try this simple spiritual exercise.  It has helped people of many different faiths open their hearts more fully to the uplifting presence of God.

To do the exercise, first get comfortable.  Close your eyes, and take a few deep breaths.  Next, gently put your attention on your inner visual screen, where daydreams and images come to you.

With your eyes closed, sing HU (pronounced like the word hue) as a song of love.  There are many ways to experience the love of God.  You may notice a feeling of peace, warmth, and comfort.  You may also recognize the presence of the Divine through greater spiritual insights into your daily life.

When you sing HU and sit in quiet contemplation, you might also perceive the inner Light and Sound.  The Light may appear as brightness or colors on your inner visual screen.  The Sound may be musical or the sounds of nature, such as the wind or the ocean.  However you experience the presence of God, it is bringing you a broader understanding of the life you lead.
